Man wearing only fishnet stockings arrested at park



A Weymouth man was arrested Saturday evening after witnesses told police he was walking through a park near children wearing only stockings.The Enterprise reported that Michael Burnham, 38, of 8 Lincoln St., Weymouth, was charged with open and gross lewdness when he was arrested at D.W. Field Park on Oak Street.Officer Richard Gaucher responded to the park at 7:23 p.m. after a woman called police to report she witnessed a man wearing nothing but socks. Police learned that man had just met another man in a parking area by the water.“She informed me she had observed this male walking around the park with no clothes on, but a pair of stockings,” Gaucher wrote in an arrest report. “She was shocked and alarmed at his behavior because he was totally exposed. … This incident took place during the daylight. There were many people walking by, including children.”The witness told police she saw the man, later identified by police as Burnham, going into a wooded area with the other man before returning to his white Chevrolet van.Gaucher met the witness at the entrance to the park and wrote in his report that he observed many adults, children and people pushing baby strollers on his way to the area where Burnham supposedly was.When Gaucher got to the parking area, he said he saw Burnham having a conversation with a man in a tan Jeep. When Gaucher approached in his cruiser, Burnham immediately moved toward his van and the Jeep drove off.“As I got closer, I could see this defendant’s private genitalia exposed out in the open as the blue denim mini-skirt had ridden up on him to his waist area,” Gaucher wrote. “I also observed this defendant was wearing a pair of black silk-looking fishnet stockings that went from his feet to his thigh area.”Inside Burnham’s van, Gaucher said he found hypodermic needles, which he initially claimed he used for cocaine, then stated they were old and used for heroin, the report states. Police did not find any drugs in the van.Burnham was arrested and brought to the police station for booking. At the booking desk, he removed a black silk shirt and bra from inside his other shirt, the report states. He told officers he was in transition.Burnham pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Monday in Brockton District Court.Judge Mary Amrhein kept the $650 Burnham posted at the police station with the case and ordered he stay away from D.W. Field Park.He is due in court for a pretrial hearing on Oct. 2.
