MT. MORRIS — Local rockabilly band, Dirty Fishnet Stockings make their triumphant return to Mt. Morris for a free two-hour concert on Aug. 12 starting at 7 p.m.
DFS first started as a group that was to be a rockabilly Christmas band called “Ted & The Mistletones.” The idea exploded into something much bigger, wanting to take the band further than playing just the holidays. A setlist of ten was made, then twenty and so on, now they play over 50 songs every show for you to swing to all night long! The band is made up of four gents that love and live the rockabilly lifestyle, including Lead Singer Ted O’Donnell, Harry Euhus on lead guitar and vocals, Rick Nolting on upright bass and vocals and Bill Englund on drums..DFS was proud to be inducted into the Rockford Area Music Industry’s Hall of Fame.
This high energy band brings a show of rousing favorites from the 50s, 60s and more. Always a good time, make sure you don’t miss this event!
Concessions for the evening will be provided by the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, who will be serving chicken strips, french fries, cheese fries, onion rings, cheese curds and fried mushrooms, with pop and water to drink. Grandpa’s and/or Just 4 Fun ice cream trucks will be there as well as Bill’s Famous Lemonade stand, all starting at 6 p.m.
The campus will be extra festive that evening as the 8th Annual National Straw Sculpting Competition continues, with new sculptures and many others from past years on display all around the campus. Please bring a blanket or chair, or enjoy the new benches and join the fun on our beautiful, historic Campus in the center of Mt. Morris, two blocks south of Illinois Route 64 on Wesley Avenue and enjoy the free Rockabilly concert.
